Over a decade of experience has enabled us to determine the gender of babies with over 99% accuracy; however, it should be noted that no ultrasound can provide 100% confirmation. Some foetuses can be ambiguous, and it entirely depends on your baby’s position. To help the result be as accurate as possible, our qualified sonographers may ask you to walk around so your baby moves into a different position if they are not 100% confident. You’re also required to come with a full bladder to get clearer scan pictures.

During your gender reveal scans, our team of sonographers will show you your baby. You can bring your partners and family or friends to find out the gender of your baby. Our team will point out their heartbeat, head, legs, and arms, along with their gender.
At your gender scan, we will also let you listen to your baby’s heartbeat. Not only that, but we can offer early reassurance everything is okay and the baby is growing within range.
A gender ultrasound works to confirm whether your baby is a boy or a girl; these are also known as sexing scans. Your private gender scan will also look to confirm the health of your foetus, the foetal gestation age, position of baby and your placental position during your appointment. A gender ultrasound can be performed from 16-40 weeks gestation; however, we recommend a minimum booking of around 17 weeks, especially if you hold a higher BMI. Our sonographers will not disclose your baby’s sex unless they are 100% sure, so it is important you book your gender ultrasound at the right time.
If we cannot determine the sex of your baby during your gender ultrasound, we will request you take a short walk or move around a bit until the baby moves into a different position. We will then attempt to rescan two times, and if we are still unable to confirm the gender, we will invite you back free of charge for a five-minute appointment to re-confirm your baby’s gender. This rescan is only available if you are over 16 weeks. If you have booked in before 16 weeks, you will need to pay in full again to confirm the gender at a later date.
We recommend you drink approximately one litre of water at least 20 minutes before your gender ultrasound. If possible, drink more, but don’t make yourself uncomfortable.
Our team of friendly qualified sonographers will perform your gender ultrasound. They are accredited and work within the NHS alongside their role in Ultrasound Plus.
Please bring along your hospital notes so our sonographers can consult them if a referral is required.
Ultrasound Plus will advise you to discuss your findings with your GP and/or midwife. If you wish, Ultrasound Plus can also provide you with details on where you can receive further follow-up tests.
It’s important to keep in mind that our scans do not replace the NHS pregnancy scans. As standard procedure, our scans include a well-being check, and if any abnormalities are detected, we will discuss it in full and provide a report to your health practitioner.
As mentioned above, it is important you still go to your NHS scans as our gender ultrasounds are a complimentary service that works alongside the NHS.
